How to find it - Take B3231 (signed Croyde) from Braunton traffic lights and look for brown sign to left.
The Centre faces the Caen Street Car Park, just opposite the Braunton Museum and Tourist Information Centre.
Braunton Countryside Centre
The starting point for your exploration of North Devon's coast and country
Braunton Countryside Centre is an activity of the North Devon Environmental Trust (charity No. 296707)
FREE WILDLIFE WALKS The design of the centre is based on a cattle shelter ('linhay') from Braunton marshes.
In a short visit you can plan one or more days out in the wonderful countryside around Braunton.
And it is free!
There are displays about the 'English Sahara' of Braunton Burrows network of sandhills (with special film), the coast, the marshes, the estuary (with sea and fresh water fish tanks), the historic 'great field' and the hilly downland.
Tarka the otter guides children around the displays and there are other materials for children. There are leaflets at little or no cost and a collection of reference books for you to see.
Our friendly volunteers will try and answer any queries.  Admission FREE  (there is a small charge for events and a charge for use of Braunton Explorers)
Braunton Explorers
your personal interactive tour of the local area using the latest GPS technology.Through the headphones and on the easily portable screen you will be guided through the area and supplied with fascinating information in a way that has never been seen before.

BRAUNTON ON THE MOVE
This tour explores Braunton's historical past and shows how it has evolved through farming, shipping and the railway into the village we see today.
SHIFTING SANDS
This tour covers North Devon's Biosphere Reserve and world-class Braunton Burrows, the story of which unfolds at Saunton Sands.
D-DAY AND THE DUNES
This tour explores the hidden history of Braunton Marshes and reveals everything from relics of WW2 to the diverse wldlife.

CHARGE: £5 per day per Explorer    (one per person is recommended)

we will need a driving licence, credit card or equivalent.

WE ADVICE THAT TO GAIN FULLEST USE OF THE EXPLORERS
THEY SHOULD BE HIRED IN THE MORNING AND CERTAINLY BEFORE 2pm.
