Welcome to the Braunton Countryside Centre.
The starting point for your exploration of North Devon's coast and country.
The design of the centre is based on a cattle shelter ( 'linhay ' ) from Braunton marshes. In a short visit you can plan one or more days out in the wonderful countryside around Braunton. Tarka the otter guides children around the displays and there are other materials for children. There are leaflets at little or no cost and a collection of reference books for you to see. There are displays about the Braunton Burrows network of sandhills (with special film), the coast, the marshes, the estuary (with sea and fresh water fish tanks), the historic ' Great Field ' and the hilly downland. Illustrated Talks and Filmshows have now become a popular and well established part of the Braunton calendar. Guided Walks are available throughout the summer.
How to find it - Take B3231 (signed Croyde) from Braunton traffic lights and look for brown sign to left. See Map
The Centre faces the Caen Street Car Park, just opposite the Braunton Museum and Tourist Information Centre.
The centre is entirely kept manned by a small group of volunteers and funded by voluntary donations.
If you have some spare time and would like to help then please contact the centre
